Clovis, Calif. – On Friday, July 26, 2024, 1 driver was arrested for DUI and 6 drivers were cited for drivers license violations at a DUI checkpoint.
The DUI checkpoint was held northbound on Clovis at Palo Alto (between Sierra and Herndon), between 8:30PM – 1:00AM.
Six drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 283 vehicles were contacted, and 576 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. One uncooperative driver was arrested for delaying or resisting, and 1 passenger was arrested for having a firearm.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
