The City of Clovis and the surrounding region is expecting a major storm event beginning on Tuesday night and continuing throughout the week. Heavy rain and wind is expected, with a forecast of about 1 – 2 inches of rainwater per day beginning on Wednesday.
City staff are prepared and standing by to help mitigate storm-related problems. We encourage everyone to exercise caution on our soon-to-be very wet roads. Slow down for utility workers and postpone non-critical travel.
With the level of forecasted rain, it will be very common for gutters to fill up to the top of curb. This is part of the normal conveyance of rain runoff to storm drain inlets. Streets where the water stops moving and pools above the top of street curbs should be reported.
If you experience issues with flooding, fallen trees or other debris, or other storm-related problems, please contact the Public Utilities Department at (559) 324-2600. If you require sandbags (maximum of 10 per household), a self-service sandbag fill station will be located at the Clovis Corporation Yard at 155 N. Sunnyside Avenue.
