The California State Public Health Officer and Director of the California Department of Public Health took steps Thursday night to order all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence, “except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors, critical government services, schools, childcare, and construction, including housing construction”.

Many businesses and employees are wondering how the State’s “stay home except for essential needs” order applies to their workplace and activities.

We have compiled a list of businesses which are considered essential by the State of California, as well as those businesses which should not be in operation at this time in the State.
