Shortly after 8 a.m. this morning, Clovis Police received a call reporting an armed robbery. Armed suspects entered the residence by smashing a rear window where the victims were sleeping. The assailants were armed with handguns and were wearing hoodies, masks and bandanas. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The thieves ransacked the residence taking personal property including a firearm, which has been recovered.
Subsequent to our call on Gateway, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department received a call of suspects attempting to break into a residence in the County of Fresno directly to the west of the original location with the likelihood that it may be related to the Clovis PD call. Clovis PD, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department and Clovis Unified School District Police worked together to set the perimeter. All three agencies worked together conducting an extensive search of the area for suspects and evidence. Officers were able to recover much of the stolen property and evidence, though the suspects remain at large. Mountain View Elementary School was on lockdown as a precaution due the proximity of the search perimeter.
