On April 14, 2016 at approximately 8:50pm, Clovis Police responded to a disturbance at Peach and Shaw. Witnesses reported that female had been stabbed, and that the suspect had ran away northbound through the neighborhood. Clovis Police Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the victim who had been stabbed multiple times in the back. The victim was alert and talking with the officers. Several witnesses provided information regarding the description of the suspect.
As officers were searching for the suspect, an alert homeowner in the area observed the suspect hiding under a pickup truck in his driveway. With the assistance of Fresno Police Department helicopter “Air 1”, officers responded and detained the suspect without incident. The suspect was positively identified by a witness and arrested. He was identified as Matthew Jackson, 30 years old, of Fresno. Jackson was transported to the Clovis Police Department for processing, and will be transferred to the Fresno County Jail where he will be booked for attempted murder and a parole violation.
The victim is recovering at a local hospital and is in stable condition. She did not know the suspect. Officers are working to recover the stabbing weapon and determine a motive. We’d like to thank Fresno Police Department’s “Air 1” for the assistance, along with the numerous witnesses that provided information.
