The Clovis Police Department’s sobriety/driver license checkpoint which took place during the late evening on August 29 into the morning of August 30 was at westbound Herndon Avenue at Helm Avenue.
The checkpoint netted zero drunk drivers and several license violator(s). 618 cars and trucks passed through the checkpoint between 9 p.m. Thursday night and 1:15 a.m. Friday morning.
Clovis Police Officers stopped and screened the drivers of 501 vehicles. Here are the results:
• No DUI arrests.
• Four cited for being unlicensed.
• Two arrested for driving on a suspended license.
• One vehicle was towed.
The DUI Checkpoint grant was funded through the California Office of Traffic Safety which made this checkpoint financially possible. The grant allows the Clovis Police Department to hold special traffic details, including additional checkpoints.
