A father remains in Fresno County Jail this morning after being arrested yesterday for 13 felonies following a traffic stop with his children in the car. Yesterday afternoon on Saturday, December 28, just before 2:00 P.M., a Clovis Police Officer on proactive patrol pulled over a car near Willow/Gettysburg for a traffic violation. The driver had a warrant and was detained without incident; however, officers located a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket, along with methamphetamine that was pre-packaged and suspected to be ready for sale. Officers also determined that the driver is a validated gang member. Due to the suspected crimes, and because the driver is a convicted felon, a search warrant was completed at his Clovis home. During the warrant, detectives and officers located a stolen shotgun, additional ammunition, and illegal high-capacity magazines, which they confiscated.

The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Tevin Gillespie of Clovis. His 2 young children were turned over to family and are doing well. Gillespie was booked into Fresno County Jail where he remains this morning for an unrelated warrant, and several crimes, including being a convicted felon in possession of a concealed, loaded firearm, child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and other related charges. In all, Gillespie is facing 13 felonies and 1 misdemeanor.
