Create Clovis: City to Host General Plan Update Community Workshops, Invites Community Members to Share their Vision for the Future

Clovis, CA, April 16, 2025 – Community members have another exciting opportunity to create the Clovis of tomorrow. The City of Clovis is currently updating its General Plan – the overarching plan that guides the future of Clovis – and has just announced the dates of two Community Workshops set to be held this May. On Thursday, May 8, and Wednesday, May 28, the City will be hosting interactive workshop events in the heart of Old Town Clovis, and community members are invited to share their vision for the future of the City and take part in the transformative General Plan Update process.

The Clovis General Plan outlines the ideal future state of the city, establishing goals, values, and policies to guide decision-making and growth. The General Plan is comprised of eight elements: land use, economic development, circulation, housing, public facilities and services, environmental safety, open space and conservation, and air quality. The City of Clovis last updated its General Plan in 2014, and although the current General Plan has effectively served the City for over a decade, it has undergone multiple revisions and requires updating to accommodate evolving laws and housing trends.

A key component of updating the General Plan is engaging with all stakeholders, including residents and community members, to gather their vision for the City over the next 20 years. There will be many ways for community members to be involved throughout the process, and the upcoming Community Workshops represent an incredible opportunity to have input early in the process as the updated General Plan takes shape.

For those unable to attend the workshops, the City of Clovis has also launched a new webpage and online community questionnaire. The City encourages all members of the community to take a few a minutes to share their voice and their hopes for the future of Clovis. Applications are also still open for the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) until Friday, May 30, 2025.
