Just before 3 p.m. this afternoon, Clovis Police officers responded to a call regarding a driver who was travelling eastbound and drifted across the yellow lines at 40 miles per hour on Barstow Avenue near Sunnyside. A pedestrian walking on the sidewalk was hit along with several mail boxes. The impact also took out a fire hydrant. That’s when a good Samaritan helped to pull the pedestrian out as he was literally under water. The pedestrian suffered injuries as a result of the impact. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the car was contacted at the scene. He did not appear to suffer injuries as the result of the collision. The accident is currently under investigation. The Clovis Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit was on the scene and will investigate to determine just how this happened.
