Clovis Police Arrest Man for Stealing iPad from Idling Truck

Shortly before 7 o’clock this morning, a man who left his white Dodge work truck idling in his driveway near Armstrong and Bullard Avenues, had his iPad stolen from his unlocked work vehicle. The victim called Clovis Police to report the theft. Clovis Officers followed a white Explorer near Villa and Inyo, along with Sheriff’s deputies and Highway Patrol Officers. The Explorer ended up near Belmont and Armstrong.

The driver got out of the SVU and approached a house. When officers attempted to contact him, the suspect then took off running through a field. He was detained and arrested for possession of stolen property for three previous cases. Officers recovered the bag that carried the iPad and then found the iPad itself hidden under a bush elsewhere.
As it turns out, 44-year-old Steven Black was arrested for possession of stolen property and methamphetamine. Officers found a bag of meth on the seat of his car.

This case serves as a reminder to the public to lock their car doors and do not leave items in their vehicles.
