Clovis Police received a call from a home owner near Shepherd/Fowler who had just arrived home, and heard a noise inside the residence late this afternoon, 3/26/16. The home owner exited the house immediately and called 911.
Officers arrived on scene within minutes and set a perimeter around the house. Once a K9 was on scene, officers made announcements via their loud speaker and the suspect exited the house from the garage and was taken into custody without incident. Officers then searched the home and found no one else inside.
Officers arrested the 13 year-old juvenile for residential burglary after interviewing him and finding that he knew the victim. The suspect entered the home through an unlocked side garage door, unplugged the overhead garage door, and then entered the home through another unlocked door.
The juvenile has been transported to Fresno County Juvenile Hall for one felony count of residential burglary.
Clovis PD attributes the arrest to the quick acting homeowner and the fast response of the officers. We want to remind everyone to lock every door and window before leaving home.
