City of Clovis Transit System Adopts Zero Fare Model

During the October 5th meeting of the Clovis City Council, the Council unanimously voted to adopt a zero fare model for the city’s transit system. This action takes effect immediately and allows riders to utilize both the Stageline and Roundup services at no cost to them.

“Our residents will see no impact to the service they are used to receiving due to this change”, said Amy Hance, General Services Manager. “We will continue providing the same number of routes, with our already convenient schedules, and top-notch customer service our customers have come to expect”.

The cost of the new program will be covered through a mix of grant funding, including Measure C.

“We are thrilled to provide this zero fare service to our residents who need it most, especially those struggling due to the economic impacts of COVID-19”, said Mayor Drew Bessinger. “As a Board Member of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, I am excited about this move, as more than 70% of air pollutants comes from mobile sources. The more residents who use our transit system for free, the better our air will be for our children.”

The Stageline is a fixed route service which follows a set schedule and route. The Roundup is a point-to-point service which picks qualified residents up at their home and transports them directly to their destination. Anyone can ride Stageline. Roundup service is for Clovis residents with a disability. Passengers must complete an ADA application and be preapproved prior to riding.
