Last night, just before 9:00 p.m., Clovis Police officers responded to the McDonald’s at Willow and Nees Avenues for a report of a shooting. Officers and EMS arrived quickly and located a gunshot victim in the parking lot. First aid was rendered at the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
With the assistance of the Fresno Police Department, Clovis Unified School District Police, Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office, MAGEC, and other local task forces, officers canvassed the area for the suspect, who was last seen walking away with a handgun and wearing all black.
Detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the location to begin the investigation and collect evidence. Tragically, the victim passed away overnight at the hospital. The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 18-year-old Caleb Quick of Clovis.
Today, detectives and professional staff continue to work diligently to solve this case. Since early this morning, they have been canvassing the area, reviewing surveillance footage, following up on leads, re-interviewing witnesses, writing search warrants, and processing evidence. Our department will continue to keep the community informed as confirmed information becomes available.
