Clovis Senior Center to Reopen July 1

After many months of closed doors and limited services due to the health emergency, the Clovis Senior
Activity Center is preparing to reopen to the public. Please plan to join us Thursday, July 1, from 10am – Noon for our Welcome Back Celebration, taking place at 850 Fourth Street in Clovis.

The reopening will mark the beginning of a new schedule of enrichment classes, including dance, art and
yoga.

While the senior center was forced to close for most activities during the pandemic, the staff remained busy
delivering meals to seniors, conducting virtual programs, and providing resources via phone and online to
residents.

“Our community’s seniors were disproportionally impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only were they
vulnerable to COVID due to their age, many suffered alone due to social distancing requirements.” said Amy
Hance, City of Clovis General Services Manager. “Now we are thrilled to welcome them back to reconnect
with friends, participate in our many programs, and make up for time away due to the pandemic.”

The event on July 1 is free and will feature a BBQ lunch, live music, carnival games, raffle prizes and a
resource fair. The first 100 people to visit the Senior Center booth will receive a free t-shirt and snow cone.
This event is open to anyone ages 50 years and older. We ask those interested in the free BBQ lunch to
RSVP by June 29, at close of business, at 559-324-2750.
