Clovis City Council Announces Next City Manager

After a nationwide search, the Clovis City Council is pleased to announce the selection of Andrew Haussler as the next City Manager. Mr. Haussler has more than 18 years of experience working for the City and currently serves as the Assistant City Manager. Prior roles with the City of Clovis include Community & Economic Development Director, Deputy City Manager, Community Development Grants Coordinator, and Housing Program Manager. Before joining the City of Clovis, Mr. Haussler worked for the global electricity generation leader, AES, as well as Fresno County. Mr. Haussler achieved both an undergraduate degree and Master’s degree in business administration from Fresno Pacific University. He also maintains credentials from the International City Manager’s Association, International Economic Development Council, and the California Association for Local Economic Development.

Mr. Haussler stated, “Being asked to lead Clovis as City Manager is the highest honor of my career. Clovis is an exceptional City with even better residents and staff. I want to thank John Holt for his 25 years of dedicated service to the City; he has made a deep impact on me and our community as a whole. We are ready to build on a solid foundation and innovate to keep Clovis an amazing place to raise a family and call home. I look forward to partnering with the City Council, staff, Clovis businesses, and residents to achieve the goals of this great City.”

The City of Clovis is a Council-Manager form of government, which means the City Manager is hired by the City Council and is responsible for implementing the Council’s policy decisions, as well as administering day-to-day City operations.

Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua said, “It speaks volumes that our City has within its current ranks an individual who is not only incredibly qualified, but also extremely passionate about Clovis, to fill the City Manager’s position. Andy is no stranger to the complicated issues facing Clovis and is the right person, at the right time, for this important role.”

Mr. Haussler will replace City Manager John Holt, who will retire at the end of the calendar year after 25 years of dedicated service to the City. Mr. Holt has served as City Manager since 2021.

“The biggest compliment I can give Andy is that serving as City Manager with him as my Assistant City Manager made my job so much easier during my tenure. Andy’s dedication, expertise, and passion for Clovis are unparalleled. I have no doubt that he will continue to serve our community with the same commitment and excellence that have defined his career. Thank you, Andy, and good luck in your next chapter leading the City of Clovis. It has been an honor to serve this great City for the past 25 years,” said Mr. Holt.

This appointment is expected to be made official at the City Council meeting Monday, December 16, and will become effective January 1, 2025.
