With the holiday season coming to a close, it’s time to say goodbye to your Christmas tree. Here’s a helpful guide on how to properly dispose of your tree.
Residents in single-family homes should cut their live/natural trees into 2-foot sections and place the pieces in the organics (green) cart. If you are unable to do so, please place the tree curbside, lying on its side. Residents in multi-family complexes should contact their property manager for instructions on how to dispose of their tree. NOTE: Artificial or flocked trees cannot be placed in the green cart and must be disposed of as trash.
Make sure ALL decorations are removed from your tree prior to disposal. No ornaments, hooks, lights, or stands, please!
Trees will be picked up by Republic Services between January 6 – 17. Your tree may be removed on a different day than your usual trash service day (especially if it is whole), so if it is skipped, please continue to leave it out.
If you have any questions, please contact the Solid Waste Division at (559) 324-2604.
