Clovis, Calif. – On Friday, September 20, 2024, 3 drivers were arrested for DUI during a DUI checkpoint. The checkpoint was held westbound on Herndon at Helm (between Peach and Willow) from 8:00 P.M. – 1:00 A.M.
Five drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, and 361 vehicles were contacted. One driver also was arrested for multiple drug charges after failing to stop at the checkpoint and being pulled over a short distance away.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
