Clovis, CA, January 30, 2025 – The City of Clovis is pleased to announce the selection of Paul Armendariz as Interim Assistant City Manager.
Mr. Armendariz has 20 years of experience working for the City including 10 years with the Planning and Development Services Department and 10 years with the Public Utilities Department. Mr. Armendariz currently serves as Deputy Director of the Public Utilities Department, a role in which he oversees several critical operations including water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, parks, trails, City landscaping, and the operation and maintenance of traffic signals and City-owned street lighting. His extensive experience not only includes the management of many essential City services, but also strategic master planning, capital improvement projects, and the administration of complex budget and regulatory matters.
Having grown up in Clovis, Mr. Armendariz attended Clovis Unified Schools, earned a degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Fresno, and is a licensed professional engineer in California. His technical expertise is complemented by his active involvement in various technical and advisory committees and boards.
“I am deeply honored to have been asked to step into the role of Interim Assistant City Manager for the City of Clovis,” said Mr. Armendariz. “I live in Clovis with my wife and two daughters, and I take great pride in serving the City and its residents. I’m truly looking forward to this new opportunity to continue to serve my community and enhance the quality of life in Clovis.”
The City of Clovis is a Council-Manager form of government, and the role of Assistant City Manager is to assist the City Manager in implementing City Council policy decisions and administering day-to-day City operations.
“Paul has deep experience in areas that are needed on a citywide basis, and we are lucky to have him,” said Andrew Haussler, City Manager of the City of Clovis. “Paul’s years of dedicated service and leadership abilities make him very well suited for this position, and I feel fortunate to have him joining me in the City Manager’s office.”
The appointment of Mr. Armendariz will be effective February 1, 2025, and follows the retirement of former City Manager John Holt and the subsequent selection of former Assistant City Manager Andrew Haussler to the role of City Manager – a promotion that left the role of Assistant City Manager vacant.
