Clovis, CA, June 9, 2025 – Do you know a young leader in Clovis? The City of Clovis recently opened applications for the 2025-26 Clovis Youth Commission and is in search of bright young students to share their voices, advise the Clovis City Council, and help shape the future of their City.
The Clovis City Council recognized the need to create a formal avenue for young people to contribute to the development and progress of the community and approved the establishment of the first Clovis Youth Commission in 2023 as a proactive step towards promoting civic engagement among local youth and fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility in shaping the City’s future.
The 2025-26 Youth Commission will consist of up to 21 high school sophomores, juniors, and/or seniors who will meet once a month from September 2025 – May 2026. Commissioners will learn about local government and will be coached by the City Council members and City staff to assist them in completing their mission.
“The Clovis City Council relies on our Youth Commission as a resource,” said Vong Mouanoutoua, Mayor of the City of Clovis. “What are our young people thinking and feeling about the current state of our City? What do they want our City to become in the future? The Youth Commission is essential for their energy, fresh ideas, and unique perspective, which benefits all residents.”
Applications for the 2025-26 City of Clovis Youth Commission are open now, and applications and more information can be found at CityofClovis.com/Government/City-Council/Youth-Commission. The deadline to submit an application is June 20, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.
